So I really haven't been blogging....but I should be better so that I have a better record of what goes on around these parts. Duncan is my little love. I can't get enough of him. He is in to everything and he is puts everything in to his mouth. As you can see from the pic he even took a chunk out of the toilet paper. I can't believe in just a few weeks he is going to be one year old.

I can't believe this little angel is 6 months old. How the time has flown. He is so much fun and makes us laugh all day long. In just a few short days we get to take him to the temple to be sealed to our family. I can't even put in to words how excited we all are. I ordered his temple/blessing outfit months ago and I am so glad it fits!! I had to capture this moment and took Duncan for a photo shoot. We ended up with 176 prints...how to choose????

Duncan is the apple of our eye...and not just Me and Steve but the big kids as well. Duncan loves his french teething giraffe.
Duncan thinks he is ready to go to school with the big kids.
Duncan went to his first 24th of July Parade and loved everything there was to look at.
Duncan went to his first drive-in movie. He was so exhausted from the all the excitement that he slept through the movie.
Duncan LOVES the big kids. They light up his world!!!
He is a seasoned traveler. Already having flown twice to Portland before he was 5 months old!
Duncan loves animals. In this picture he is adoring Aunt Meg's horse. He loves our dogs and they entertain him during the day.
He has been sitting up since he was 5 months old and that has made bath time heaven.
Duncan LOVES to be outside. Here he is in the bike trailor. He also loves going on walks or I set him outside in his excersaucer to watch the kids play.

Duncan had is 4 month WCC. He is 16lbs and 25 3/4 inches long. His doc said his sitting up ability is extremely advanced. We could have told him that! D is very strong. He was born with the ability to hold his head up. The doc couldn't get over how happy D is. He said he is one of the happiest babies he has ever seen!!! ; )

Swimming for the first time

He is so afraid he is going to miss out on the action! I think this is the curse of having such older syblings. He wants to know what they are doing and fights nap time.

Getting the hang of eating some real food.

We celebrated Jonah's 9th bday. He had a party with his friends at Black Diamond Gymnastics. Then we had a quiet celebration at home on his actual birthday. I love Jonah to death! He will try anything and always wants to be my helper. I had him write Duncan a letter to put in his baby book. In the letter he told Duncan he felt "eternally great" the first time he saw him! Melt my heart!!!!

Caleb is reading Duncan Sports Illustrated. Duncan was born to the television being on Sports Center. He has no hope growing up with his brothers and dad....he will love sports.
Alexa and Jonah can't get enough of Duncan. I usually have to make deals like "When Alexa is done with her homework it's her turn to hold Duncan". This little boy has not shortage of people who want to hold him....but it makes it hard for me during the day when everyone is gone. He prefers to be held all the time!!!

First bath in the hospital and then at home!

Duncan did not love his first bath in the hospital! Can you blame him? The nurses at the hospital were so sweet to us and to Duncan. The nurse that gave him a bath told us how cute he was! She said there are cute babies and there are sweet babies. She said we should be happy he is not one of the "sweet" babies. I guess that was code for a not so pretty baby :).

First days at home

We brought Duncan home a little over 48 hours after he was born. The outfit he is wearing was chosen by his birth mother.
I was so overwhelmed by the love that was shown to our family. On a daily basis we received packages in the mail, cards, gifts and little treasures left on our front porch. It made me cry every time. The above picture if a gift that was left on our front porch.
He had lots and lots of visitors and I wish I had captured each one on film. My mom came and stayed with us for several days.
His one and only cousin came by.
His Utah Grandma adored him.
And both my brothers came in from out of town to snuggle on him!

New baby!!!!

If you haven't heard we have a new baby boy!!! It has been a whirlwind in our home since January. Many of you have asked about how Duncan came to us. I thought I would share the basics of his story with you. We were approved for adoption by LDS Family Services in December. Upon our approval I sent out a letter to friends and family letting them know we were looking to adopt. A friend in Oregon suggested I contact a private agency in Orem because they were waiving certain fees. We contacted them and were signed up with them at the end of December. The nice part was all of our info from LDS could be sent right over to them. They told us they would be showing us to woman and would only call us if there was a woman they wanted to show us to that had certain things that we didn't agree to. (You check a whole bunch of boxes when you are going to adopt and if the birth mom doesn't have one of those things they call you.). So we waited and truly thought we would have at least a year or two of wait time.

At the end of January I had to have emergency surgery for an Ectopic pregnancy. It was a total shock and threw us for a loop. The recovery was pretty hard. About a week and a half after the surgery I was still on the couch recovering when I got a call from the private agency asking if we would like to be shown to this particular birth mom. Steve and I asked to hear from her OB to know the baby was developing well. They got back to us and said the baby looked great. This was on 2/3/11. The next day we got a call in the evening from the agency stating they had the birth mother there in the office and she wanted to talk to us on the phone. We had so many emotions heading in to that phone call. The phone conversation was beautiful. It was filled with tears and laughter. During the conversation Duncan's birth mother, Camille, told us she had chosen us!! I cried for several hours straight that night. It was an overwhelming feeling that can't be put in to words. This lovely woman was giving us her baby to be raised in our home! This baby that we had been praying for and waiting to have for 3 years!

We spent that weekend frantically buying the essentials and getting the finances for the adoption squared away. To say the least I couldn't sleep or eat for days. We met Camille on Monday 2/7 for lunch. It was a fun lunch and we walked away realizing this was really going to happen. Duncan wasn't due until 2/14 so I was comforted that I had at least a week to prepare for him. But NOPE....the next morning, 2/8, I was getting the kids of to school and my phone rang with the news that Camille was in labor. Duncan was born several hours later!!!

We were able to be in the delivery room, I cut the cord and we spent the next 3 days with Duncan and Camille. The birth was an amazing experience that taught me a tremendous amount about the Atonement....we will save that for another day. For now enjoy the pictures of our main man!

Jonah finally talked me in to letting him take Rookie to show and tell. Rookie was in heaven with all the kids. I helped Jonah share a lot of facts about Pugs. The kids loved hearing all about the crazy and funny things Rookie does.

Halloween

We went to our local farm and pick ups some pumpkins. Sadly the kids were not that in to it this year. They are growing up. We didn't even get our pumpkins carved and they didn't seem to care.

Our witchy came back to our front porch this year. She brought much amazement to the neighbor kids as she worked on her brew.
Poor Caleb got super sick and had to miss the big Halloween party that the mutual kids had planned.
Alexa was a Chinese girl.
And of course Jonah, being a boy, wanted to be some gross thing in a black cape.

Disneyland in October

Disneyland during Halloween is AWESOME! I loved all the decorations. The kids had not been to Disneyland since they were super little.
On our second day my sister, Meghan, joined us. Our favorite ride was The Tower of Terror. Jonah's face was priceless the first time we rode it. He was horrified. But when it was all done he wanted to ride it again!
It rained two out of the three days we were there. It made the lines short but it made us soggy and cold. I was so proud of the kids because they didn't complain once!
Notice all of Alexa's buttons. She cracked me up because she had to wear all of them each day. We went about a week before my birthday and the kids insisted I get a birthday button. Alexa thought it would be funny if she wore it with my name on it. She got such a kick out of people saying to her "Happy Birthday Lindsay!".

Jonah had to build a bird house for scouts. He and Steve worked together on it. Jonah loves to spend time with his Dad. The older Jonah gets the more he acts like Steve. I love it!!!

I did a horrible job of taking pics on Caleb's 13th birthday! We had a small gathering of family and friends. I still can't believe we have a teenager in the house. I hope we all survive the experience :). Caleb is a smart, spiritual and happy boy. His brother and sister adore him. He is loyal and kind to all he meets. I am so lucky to be a part of his life.

Steve started the Executive MBA program at The University of Utah in August. The program is geared toward working professionals. He attends one day a week. It has been a huge adjustment for our family. The first few weeks were pretty rough as we adjusted to not seeing him very much. He is loving school, is learning a ton and we know this will be worth it in the long run.
Caleb started 7th grade! I know I was more nervous about it than he was. Don't you remember how awkward junior high was. I wanted to protect him from those crappy experiences. But I had no need to worry. He is loving it. He is taking 9th grade math and english. He is earning A's in both of those. Next year they will provide more AP classes for him.

Wow it has been months! I guess you could say I boycotted blogging. I became disenchanted with the idea. Some times I feel like woman who have blogs try and portray that they have the perfect life. ..."Look at my perfect kids, my perfect home, my perfect husband". It's all a bit fake don't you think? Even though my kids and husband are just about perfect! But I was totally impressed with a friend of mine who showed me the book she made from printing up her blog entries. Loved it and I want to have a record of our family.

We spent Pioneer weekend in Yellowstone. This big guy above was by far the best part of the trip. He chose our campground as his hang out the entire time we were there. He ate and slept. He as a beauty!

Found this little number at The DI for $10! Steve says he is sure his parents owned it in 1974! You know they do say one man's trash is another man's treasure. I feel like I really turned it in to a treasure in my eyes!

I didn't sand. Just sprayed on a base coat, a couple layers of spray paint and then added an antique glaze. I wanted the table to be higher. I found these legs at Lowes for only a few bucks each.

Then I added a glass round and put it in the spot that had been waiting for it!!

My dad orchestrated a Mother's Day surprise for my mom. He got all the kids home for the weekend with out my mom knowing. Here is my dad pacing in the kitchen waiting for my mom to get home.

Pinky, Lexa Lou, Lou Lou and Peacock are several nick names this little lady goes by. Miss Lou is turning 10 this week. She is just a gem! It is such a joy to watch her learn and grow. She is a clothes horse (wonder who supports that addiction), she is a friend to many and she is gorgeous! She is generally always happy unless she has low blood sugar. She is always up to trying just about anything. She plays video games with her brothers and paints her nails with her BFF...the perfect combination.
Her first birthday package arrived from her Granny B today! A pretty jewelery box and earrings.
She didn't wait a moment to take the new treasure up to her room and fill it up. I actually had no idea she had so much bling!! (wonder who supports that one too??)

Soccer Star!!!

The J-Man LOVES soccer. He announced to me last year that he was going to turn pro when he is 26 :). Gotta love the mind of a 7 year old. He just finished up with indoor soccer. As you can see from the above picture his teammates basically stood there while he did the work. LOL. We are going to get him in to a year round league where try outs are required. Hopefully this will allow him to play with boys at his skill level.

I included this picture to show how much taller Jonah is than the kids his age. The other day some one asked me if he was in 4th grade...nope only 2nd!!

We checked out several volcano books from the library. One of the books talked about Mt. Saint Helens. I asked Alexa "Do you know where St. Helens is?" She replied "Tooele?!". We need to get this girl out of Utah!

Science project

Here is a picture of Caleb working hard on his Science project. He was testing to see what cools a soda the fastest. He won the School Science Fare. Then went on to the District Science Fare and won again. Then last week we headed to BYU for the Regional Science Fare.

Getting a little support from his bro and sis. The little kids got to make catapults. The the little project for the kids was heaven sent. It entertained them for the rest of the day! :)

Steve's Birthday

Steve had a birthday in February...I am such a slacker for just now posting. He had surprises all day long. I got the day off work, had a massage therapist come to the house, pulled the kids out of school and we headed down to his parents for lunch. Then in the evening just he and I had a chance to go out. Why do you blog? I have been trying to figure out why I blog and my motives behind it all. I thought reviewing my reasons for blogging would motivate me to keep on blogging. Probably my main reason for blogging was for my family in Oregon so they could see what we are up to. But we have Skype now and we can just show them what we have been up to and see their reactions. Another reason to blog was to keep in touch with my friends. I have Facebook now to keep in touch with all my friends. The last reason was to keep some type of history of my families activities. I geuss that needs to be my motivation. But honestly now that I am working from home I find some many more important things to take up my time. Sadly blogging has become last on the list......But I do have things to record...so MAYBE just MAYBE I will post a few pics!

We had the best Valentines day. I have been working long hours at work and working evenings. Steve and I didn't get to go out to celebrate Valentines on our own. So I made Valentines day a fabulous family day. Cupid came in the morning with fun presents for the kids. In the evening we surprised the kids with a little bistro in our own home. I served them just like we were out! They had salads first, the main course and then desert. They even had sparkling cider. We gave them each a Valentine card sharing with them how much we love them. Normally our dinners last 20 minutes and we are on to the the next thing. Our Valentines dinner lasted over an hour. It was soooo much fun and I know the kids will be talking about it for a long time. I couldn't have picked a better way to celebrate!

The bad part about being good friends with your ward activities director is that they always ask you to help!! I have just made Steve his second costume in 3 months. And have you seen the size of my man? I can't find shirts long enough for his arms let alone a Captain Moroni costume. So....to the fabric store I went. I think it worked out pretty well.....but I told Steve next time he is saying NO to the activities director!

Valentine project

Do you want an idea for a super easy Valentine's project?? This project was so fun and so easy. I have made 4 of these for different friends. I apologize for the fuzzy pics. I must of had a shaky hand the day I took these.

INTRUCTIONS:

1. Cut burlap in to triangles
2. Trace the shape you want on to the burlap.
3. Fill in shape with ModgePodge and then sprinkle glitter liberally. Shake extra glitter off and let dry over night.
4. Use a large sewing needle to string triangles together.
5. Embellish with ribbon.
6. Hang it up or give it away to a friend.

To say the least I wasn't in a healthy frame of mind....so it has taken me a while to go back and look through them. Thank goodness Angie is such and easy going person and understood.

Wow...it has been a while since my last post. We have been busy!! Let me give a quick update on our lives. Steve was accepted to the University of Utah's Executive MBA program. I have to brag for a moment. The school waived him from having to take the GMAT! He is so smart! And they informed him that they can't remember the last time they have seen a grad student as well rounded as he is! Ok...done bragging!!! But wow...he just amazes me! So glad he is ALL MINE!
Caleb won the science fare at his school. He and several other students will be heading to the ditrict science fare. He conducted an experiment to find the best way to cool a can of soda. Would you believe in a bowl with salt, water and ice is the fastest??
I started my job at Jetblue. It has been fun, I have met many new friends and I love learning new things. But it also has been super busy as they are in the process of changing systems. I was hired to help ease some of the pressure with the change. This will require lots of over time. NOT WHAT I WANT!! But we will make it through and hopefully in a couple months my schedule will calm down!!! After the system change takes place I will be able to work from home! I just wanted something to keep my busy while the kids at school.........:)

We had Saturday brunch at The Grand America Hotel in down town Salt Lake City. It is a 4 star hotel and you could spend quite a while just admiring the architecture and interior design. We highly recommend the brunch...it is only $15 for adults and $7 for kids. This is a picture of my family.....yes we are a motley crew!!! We took a few moments to take some fun shots in the hotel.

Christmas day

Well I did a really bad job of taking pictures on Christmas day. I have to admit I don't think taking pictures of the presents you get is really appropriate. I simply enjoyed the day cooking with my mom and spending time with our family. My entire family was in town and my in-laws were with us too. We had a crowded house!!!

We spent a cold night seeing the lights at Temple Square. We went with the Lewis family. We enjoyed a yummy dinner at PF Changs and then braved the winter weather. As always the lights and nativity on temple square ignite the Christmas spirit with in.

Alexa had her winter dance performance. They did their own little rendition of The Nutcracker. Jonah said "I didn't know they had hip-hop in The Nutcracker!". It was a great performance by all and we were especially proud of our toy soldier.

The season has begun

The Christmas season has arrived at our house. The gingerbread houses have been decorated....

The snow is falling and the sledding has started.....
Letters have been written for Santa. In this letter Jonah asked Santa for a picture of Paco and Bob. Paco and Bob are our Christmas elves that come check on the kids all year long. Wonder if his teacher knows Paco or Bob????
The ward Christmas party was so great. Steve was in charge of the musical program. Steve played Brigham Young, Alexa sang and Caleb was Joseph. Jonah and I got to sit back and relax. Our anniversary

Time flies....we celebrated our second anniversary this weekend. We spent two days of complete peace and quiet in Park City. After the past month we have had all we wanted to do was relax. We stayed at The Hotel Park City and it was fabulous.

The best part...THE PRIVATE HOT TUB. We spent several hours out here. It is so fun to be in the warm hot tub when it is freezing out.

We had a wonderful time together. It is so nice to let the world stop, turn our phones off and just enjoy spending time together.

I am excited to say I officially gave notice at my job!

Yes this working girl of over 10 years is throwing in the towel. I am giddy at the idea of not having to be somewhere every morning, not having to worry about payroll, employee conflicts and numbers, numbers, numbers!!! I look forward to doing laundry at 11am, making dinner every day and cleaning house. I am not done working but I am done with stressful work. I have a great opportunity to work from home. I can basically set my schedule. I am so excited for a new adventure!!!

We have been waiting during the past week for the medications I took to induce my miscarriage. It didn't work and I started to get sick. My body basically thought I was 9 weeks pregnant. I was bloated and was having major swelling in my legs and feet. Last Friday I went to see my specialist and he indicated I would need a D and C asap! Not what I wanted to hear but I knew for my health it needed to be done. Unfortunatley because I was so far along I had to have the procedure at the hospital and be put under for it. I had the procedure done yesterday. All went well and I am feeling pretty good today. I am so thankful for my specialist. Can you believe the first thing he asked me yesterday was "How are you doing? I mean not how are you physically but how are you doing emotionally?". It is so nice to have a doctor that really understands not only physically what I am going through but even more importantly emotionally. We have felt so blessed to have this doc and his staff at this time in our lives. When I was leaving their office on Friday several of the nurses that I have built close relationships with stopped what they were doing to give me a hug and tell me it was all going to be okay. They have all added a little sunshine in these truly dark times!

You know who else is my sunshine...my kids! In honor of Thanksgiving I thought I would post a little Thanksgiving book Jonah brought home from school.

Have you ever not been in the mood to blog?

It's been almost a month since I put something on our blog and honestly I don't know when I will have the desire to add something new and exciting!

To put things in to perspective.....we have been going through fertility treatments for 18 months and I am EXHAUSTED. This last go round I ended up having to take meds to induce a miscarriage(second miscarriage in two months). So between throwing up, some days taking up to 6 medications, giving myself shots, gaining tons of weight, feeling super moody, super emotional, tired, visiting the doctor countless times, numerous ultra sounds, invasive tests, feeling like my body has been taken over by aliens, the emotional roller coaster and peoples unbelievable comments....I am tired and have no desire to blog! But the funny thing is I feel guilty about not wanting to blog! Ridiculous I know!!!

My mom came to visit us from Oregon. She and I have birthdays two days apart. It is always fun to be together to celebrate. She was able to attend one of Jonah's soccer games. Where he scored two goals!!!

We went to get pumpkins at a local farm by our house.

We also went to Gardner Village. If you have not taken your kids to do the Witch Scavenger hunt it is a must. You can print the hunt off of the Gardner Village web sight. The best part is it's free!!! The kids can earn a chocolate chip cookie for 25 cents if you find all the witches.
We celebrated our birthdays a few days early...if we look worn out we are. Alexa was sick all day and had fluids coming out of both ends. I lost count of how many times I cleaned out the throw up bowl. Poor girl changed her clothes 3 times!!

All in all we were so lucky to have Granny B with us for a few days. We don't get to see her enough!

As Steve would say...we visited two holy temples this past weekend...The Denver, Colorado temple and the Broncos stadium! Ha!
My beautiful sister-in-law went through the temple for herself this past weekend. I had the incredible honor to be her escort. It was such an amazing experience.
I thought I was going to be able to hold it together until the sweet little temple worker that was helping her started crying. She relayed to me that she felt the spirit so strongly with Sandi and that she must be a really special person. Sandi is really special. She has been through a lot this past year and she has totally turned to the Lord to be her rock. She is such an example!

The second part of our weekend was continuing the celebration of Caleb's 12th birthday. He received Broncos tickets as a present. Caleb, Grandpa, Steve and Darin attended the game. The day could not have turned out better for them.
Caleb entered this sign in a contest and he won out of 20 other people who were on stage!!! He won an $80 Broncos sweatshirt...and you better believe when we got back in to town he did all his laundry on his own. You may ask why? Because he wanted to wash his sweatshirt. Thank you Broncos!!!
Then Caleb experienced his first plane ride! It was so much fun to experience that with him. Our flight left really late and Caleb was pooped. About 20 minutes in to the flight he was out like a light!

Caleb has been loving being an "older" kid. He has taken on the priesthood with incredible maturity. He is also loving going to Mutual every week.

Last night they had a skate night. He got home about 9:15pm. The little kids were in bed and that gave he, Steve and I a chance to talk about his night. He told us what they ate, who was there, how much his skates cost and then...........................................he mentions the couples skate. Oh yes THE COUPLES SKATE! Apparently Hannah asked him to take her on the couples skate and they HELD HANDS WHILE THEY SKATED.

HOLY CRAP!!!!

Steve and I acted totally cool when he was telling us. I even told him how proud I was of him for making Hannah feel like a million bucks. But the minute he walked up the stairs Steve and I about fell on the floor!!! Are we ready for this next phase in Caleb's life???? Is it normal and ok for 12 year olds to be holding hands in mutual???

We had a very special day today. Caleb turned twelve years old!!! He received the Aaronic priesthood today in church. Grandpa came to church with us (gma is out of town) and The Johnsons joined us as well.
We have noticed such a change in Caleb over the past few months. He has gained a maturity that we are so proud of. He has been so excited to join the Young Mens. It was so touching today to see his primary president cry as he left for deacon's quorum. Caleb is such a well liked guy. He is easy going, brilliant, kind and handsome. He works hard to excel in all that he takes on. He recently was even invited to attend an adult karate class. We are so proud of him and who he is! He is a wonderful example to his brother and sister.

We missed Alexa today. The poor girl has the flu! She was able to stay at her moms while we went to church.

Daybreak update

We attended the association meeting for Daybreak and it was very interesting. It was great to hear the opinions of others and know that we are not alone in many of our frustrations. There were several women who attended that live right across from the lake. They had a list of things that have gone on over the summer and I thought I would share them with you.

1. They have caught skinny dippers almost every night of the summer.

2. The homeowners around the lake have to pick up the over flow from the trash bins as it blows up their streets.

3. There have been large drinking parties held there in the evenings.

4. Family reunions held at the lake

5. A Youth event held at the lake.

6. Kids swimming in lake with out swim diapers

7. In one day there were 80 cars parked on the road so a fire truck could not get through.

8 And my FAVORITE....one woman has had over 40 people knock on the front door of her home to ask to use her bathroom this summer.

Gotta love it people! Needless to say many solutions were given and the commitee will be making changes really fast. In a room of 60 people at the meeting the question was asked " How many of you have regularly used the lake this summer?" and only one person raised their hand. The reason why? Its too damn crowded for the residents to use!

I have been a slacker about posting this fun little project. The day before the dry wallers were coming to finish the basement I decided I wanted a playroom under the stairs. A big thanks to Steve and our friend Matt who granted my wish. They changed the framing for it that night! I have a great neighbor who has her own vinyl business. I told her what I was thinking and she took the time to design the fish and saying for me. We found an old door at an antique store and cut it in half. I still need to build a little window some how and hang up a mailbox we got for it.

Daybreak users

Since I live in Daybreak I thought I would pass some info on to those of you that don't. There is going to be a final meeting next week to determine if "Daybreak ID cards" will be checked at all the outdoor facitilities.

Those of us that live in Daybreak pay a HUGE HOA every month that provides us with the use of the community center, our yards and sidewalks taken care of and a HUGE amount of it goes to the lake and parks. There has been a total uproar in the community as people have come from all over the valley to use our lake and beach. Often times it has been so busy we don't even stop to play. I even have a neighbor that has documented families unloading their children and a days worth of supplies to hang out at the beach.

I am totally one to share and I love having friends join us at the lake. But I will have to agree with many in the comminty who think it's getting a little out of control. When it gets to the point that our community feels like they can't use the facilities because they are too crowded it's time to do something about it. Just wanted those of you who use the facilities to be aware that you might get your ID checked in the near future. If you not a Daybreak memeber you may be asked to leave..pass the info on!

These guys started school two weeks ago! They are in year round school. We now have a 2nd, 4th and 6th grader. We love each of their teachers. Caleb has been offered the opportunity from his teacher to do his math assignments ahead of time. This will allow him and another student to work on a film that will be entered in the district film contest at the end of the year.
We have been working on putting our armor on each day!
We have another seamstress in the house! Alexa had been dying to learn how to sew. We have started with a few hand sewing projects.

This little guy was entertained for an hour and a half with salt dough. I kept asking myself that afternoon why I had not thought of this much earlier!!! I pulled out a pizza cutter, spatula and cookie cutters. It was heaven for him and me!!!
Basic Salt Dough Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup of fine salt
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of water (may add more)

Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine the salt and the flour
Make a well in the salt/flour mixture and add the water
Knead until smooth and shape into a ball
When not in use, wrap in plastic or store in an airtight container
You may want to add a teaspoon or two of vedg. oil this will help it not stick to things.
The batch I made was 4 times this. That seemed to be a good amount.

Today I have such a thankful heart for my three little monkeys. You could not have convinced me 4 years ago that I would marry a man with 3 kids. Now I can't imagine it any other way. I can trully say that every moment in my life prepared me to be a mother to them. It was meant to be. I have not been myself lately due to lots of different medications I am on. Sometimes I feel like I am just too hard on them and I don't know if it's the meds talking or me :). A while back I decided to just let the little things go.....Currently I have a dirty kitchen floor, I have wet laundry sitting in the washing machine and I am pretty sure there is still underwear sitting on the kid's bathroom floor. Letting the little things go has given me time to enjoy the special moments with the kids like........

Watching Jonah talk to the dogs when he thinks no one is looking..."Rookie you have such big eyes and I love you, I love you, I love you" (in a high pitched voice)

These are the moments that light up my life and make every hard thing melt away! Letting the laundry go and the syrup on the floor stay allows me to cherish it all!

I have this entire week off from work. All I can say is for those of you that stay home I am in total ENVY!!!!!! This week has been so great. I could get used to this. Here are some things that I have been able to accomplish:

I could get used to being at home!!!!!! None of this gets accomplished when I have to be at work!

Colorado

We took our niece back to Colorado last week and stayed a few days there. We got to hold a big spider named Rosi!

We had a great 4th. My dad came in to town in the morning and dropped off some furniture. Then in the afternoon we went down to the lake and played around for a while. Then in the evening we headed to Sandy city and watched the fire works. Caleb went with Steve's parents in their RV for the weekend. It was strange to only have the two little ones...but very easy!!!

Mission reunion

Alexa had a check up a few weeks ago and we found out she is blind as a bat. In her left eye she could only see the big E at the top of the page. She was pretty upset that she had to get glasses. I shared with her that when I was her age I wanted glasses and braces really bad! I told her I was jealous because I still want glasses. A little later she told me she was excited to get her glasses. How cute are the ones we found?? I couldn't stop looking at her the first day she had them. So cute and grown up!!!!

My green wall is complete! I decided to paint the long wall so you could see it as you walked down the stairs. I also made my curtains. I went through a model home a while back and was checking out all their decorations. I saw this style of curtain and of course checked them out to see how they were made....and then made them myself. I am known to say "don't buy that you can make it for half the price!". I also have been making lots of fun bright pillows too! Loving the basement!!!

I walked out side the other day to find the kids working on a play with our neighbors. They had a script and were video taping it. I was so impressed with their creativity. Even though we have had a few problems with some of our neighbors...I am thankful for the good ones!!!!

1. He is very funny...he pays attention to what makes people laugh. Currently he keeps saying to me "What now?!?". It's makes me crack up every time.

2. He will try any food you put in front of him.

3. He loves to hear his voice. Sings in the shower, on the toilet, and he even sings to the dogs.

4. He is very athletic. He has been involved in Karate, basketball and football this year and has excelled in all of them.

5. He is a smarty. We have always thought of Jonah as the out going child not the academic child. His teacher corrected us at our last parent teach conference. He informed us Jonah could test for the excelled program the district offers. Wow!!

I am feeling greatful today and thought I better take advantage of that emotion! :) In particular I am greatful for my husband. Our life has been a rollercoaster these past few months and it doesn't look like the coaster is going to slow down any time soon. He has been so patient and kind....even when I loose patience and hope. I couldn't ask for a better man in my life! He keeps me sane!

I am also thankful for my 3 little monkeys. They have taken over my life and I love it! They make me laugh every day and make my world a better place. I love when I come home from work and hear them running for the door saying "Liinnndddssayyyy!!!!". Smile!!

I am thankful for family....especially my mom! She trully is my biggest fan and the best support system I could ask for.

Lastley I am thankful for friendship. In the past few months I have strengthened old friendships and made many new ones. There is nothing better than getting a call or email from a friend asking how you are.

Weekend escape

We were able to sneak away this past weekend to St. George. We had a great time golfing and laying by the pool. But I missed the kids. I am not used to laying by the pool and not hearing my name a million times to come in the water. :)

Jonah took his best buddy ROOKIE to school. He loves his doggy and loved showing him off. The kids asked him lots of different questions. One in particular was "what's wrong with his eyes?". Poor Rookie...it's hard being a Pug!

I realized I never posted pics of Scott's wedding from a few weeks ago. Scott is one of my best friends. It was so neat to see him get married! I got all emotional when I hugged in him the sealing room. We have been through tons together. We love Cara and think she is FANTASTIC!!
